aslterpshirts banner 2006

It was one of those days during my interpreter preparation program...I just needed a break from class, so I stayed at home and had a slow day. I painted two sets of hands in the sign "interpret."

I also sketched it out in several different ways. Soon after the image was scanned and brought into the digital realm. Thanks to Rich for digitizing the design. The two sets of hands then became a circle.

Sometime later stickers were printed. I gifted and sold many of them in Washington, D.C., at both the International Interpreter Symposium and Deaf Way II in the summer of 2002. After much love and encouragement from my circle of interpreters, shirts were printed in the summer of 2005 just in time for the RID national conference in San Antonio. The Fall 2005 series was intended as a fundraiser to attend the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI) First International Congress in Worcester, South Africa. I had the opportunity to attend this historical event an sponsor the registration for another delgate.

As this project has developed the "me" has become "we" and I have a dedicated team to help run this shop. Pacts does the graphic design and heavy lifting. Several others have also willingly involved themselves in this crazy scheme, carrying gear, providing advice and feedback, helping with inventory and tech needs. Love, thanks and appreciation to Jennifer, Keva, Sharif, Electra, Michael, Holly, Ari-Asha, EMPEA & KQ,
and to Deaf Vision for fabulous hosting!

Fall of 2006 is our third and final run. It has been a lot of fun to run this "store" for past year and a half. However, this endeavor has become too cumbersome and time consuming to sustain. The support and encouragement of colleagues, friends and family is what has kept us going all this time. We will continue to have stickers and contribute to the interpreting field in a creative way.

Grazie Mille to Pacts for all that you do and are for me.

And thanks to everyone respresenting, wearing one of these shirts!

Thanks for your business and support.

Love,

Nicole
